Allergies
At nibboo, we care about all our customers — including those with food allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions. That’s why we make allergen information transparent and easy to find. We follow UK food-safety law to help you make safe, informed choices.
The 14 major allergens you should know about
Under UK regulations, certain ingredients are recognised as common triggers. These must be clearly declared if present. The main allergens are:
- Cereals containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats, etc.)
- Crustaceans (prawns, crabs, lobsters, etc.)
- Eggs
- Fish
- Peanuts
- Soybeans
- Milk (including lactose)
- Nuts (e.g. almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios, Brazil nuts, macadamia, etc.)
- Celery (including celeriac)
- Mustard
- Sesame seeds
- Sulphur dioxide / sulphites (if over threshold)
- Lupin (seeds, flour)
- Molluscs (mussels, clams, squid, etc.)
If ingredients in a dish contain — or derive from — one of these allergens (even if partially), we clearly highlight them.
How we display allergen information
- On each product/dish page — we list the full ingredients and highlight any of the 14 major allergens if present.
- Clear labelling — allergens are emphasised in bold (or a different font/style) so they are easy to identify, as required by law.
- Pre-packed & direct-sale items (if applicable) — for any items packaged on our premises before sale, we provide a full ingredients list on the packaging, with allergens clearly marked.
- Non pre-packed or made-to-order items — allergen info is still provided in writing (on menu, notice, or product page). If requested, we’re happy to provide a full allergen breakdown for any dish.
- Distance sales (online / delivery / take-away) — allergen information is always available before purchase (on our website) and accompanies the food at delivery or collection.
Our commitment & legal transparency
- Nibboo adheres to UK food-safety laws and regulations regarding allergen labelling, including for both pre-packed and non pre-packed foods.
- We keep an internal “allergen matrix” that lists allergens contained in every dish, ingredient, and sauce — updated whenever recipes or suppliers change.
- We train all staff to respond accurately and never guess — ensuring you receive reliable information, not assumptions.
